Jethro Tull was born 1674 in Basildon, Berkshire England.
He attended the St John College in Oxford, where he studied law but didn’t take
a degree. He was diagnosed with pulmonary disorder, which made him travel
through Europe in search for a cure. During that time he learnt a lot about
agriculture as he moved through various locations. He saw and learnt different
methods used for farming. Upon returning to England Jethro Tull formed a group
called the “Norfolk System”. The members of this group were the first to adapt
the farming methods that Tull invented. This group also brought new crops to
England such as the turnip or the potatoe. Tull lived most of his life in
Berkshire, England. That is also where he died on the 27th of Febuary 1741 at
the age of 67.
