The seed drill
was a machine invented by Jethro Tull that was used to plant seeds into the
ground. Before the seeds were scattered by hand only very few of them where
fertilized. With the new seed drill the seeds were placed into the soil. The
racks had tubes attached to them that would drill into the ground and drop a
seed into the hole. Furthermore the seed drill had a plough attached behind it;
this would cover up the holes that were drilled, giving the seeds a higher
chance of growing. Without the seeds being planted into the soil most of them
were just eaten by birds. That is how the seed drill worked.
